The S-242 Static Compactor and Extruder is designed to compact
2.8 in diam by 5.6 in test specimens in accordance with AASHTO
Method T-307. (A 4 in model is available upon request). The device
allows the operator to compact the sample
in five equal lifts by both monitoring the length of the sample
and the load applied to the sample. The supplied spacers prevent
over compaction of the sample. Once the sample is compacted, the
hydraulic piston is used to extrude the sample.
