Capping Pad Systems
ASTM C 1231 and AASHTO T-22
DGSI offers an alternative to the traditional casting type capping method. The Capping Pad System uses cast neoprene discs and machined steel receivers and is avaialble for cube and cylinder tests. They are placed on each end of the specimen. The Pads have high strength and abrasion resistance. They are available in three grades of hardness. The Capping Pad System is easy to use and allows immediate testing. As the components are reusable, it is cost effective.
Capping Pad System Sets comprise two Capping Pads with 60 durometer hardness and two Steel Receivers.
Soft = Durometer 50: Found appropriate for cylinder
strengths more than 2000 psi (15 MPa) and
up to approximately
7000 psi (48-MPa).
Medium = Durometer 60: Standard hardness.
Hard = Durometer 70: Not recommended
for strengths less than 4000 psi (28 MPa). Capping pads may not be effective
for high-strength concrete, i.e. in excess of 9000 psi (63 MPa).
Pads and receivers available in 2" round and square, 3" round and square, 4" round, and 6" round.
