Saybolt ViscometerSaybolt Viscometer
The Saybolt Viscometer is used to test the viscosity of various petroleum products. The interior of the bath is constructed of steel and the exterior is of polished stainless steel. Three open wire heater coils provide heating over the full temperature range. A copper cooling coil can also be acitvated. The temperature can be controlled by a mercury-type thermoregulator with fine adjustments. An externally mounted induction motor drives a stainless steel stirrer for thorough oil circulation. Draft shields are provided to prevent drafts from affecting oil thread. A control box mounted to the bath is equipped with (2) pilot lights, switches and line terminals. Also includes corks with pull chains for tubes, tube cleaner, thermometer guard pipette, and oil strainer. Three gallons of special oil, plug and cord also included. Applicable Standards: ASTM D 88, D 177, D 244, AASHTO T 72

A complete set of Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometers for use in measuring kinematic viscosity of cut-back asphalts, road oils and asphalt cements. Includes round metal holder (to fit 2 in. diameter hole) for each viscometer. Includes one of each Zeitfuchs Cross Arm Viscometers (7 total). Applicable Standards: ASTM D 2170 AASHTO T 201

viscometer bathHigh-Temperature Viscometer Bath
The High Temperature Viscometer Bath is used for temperature control of the viscometer when testing asphalt samples over a temperature range from 680 to 4000F maintaining ±0.01F0. Utilizes 3 thermoregulators with different temperature ranges for greater sensitivity. Mounted stirrer motor is surrounded by a cooling coil for low temperature tests. The Bath accommodates up to 7 viscometers in 2 in. diameter holes and has a removeable front lid for accommodation of larger items. Front lighted for easy viewing of viscometers and well insulated and sealed for safety. Bath made of Pyrex glass with a stainless steel reflector, heaters, baffle, stirrer, cooling unit and control panel. Includes 6 gallons of heating oil. Thermometers and viscometers sold separately. Applicable Standards: ASTM D 2170, D 2171 AASHTO T 201, T 202

Hubbard Specific Gravity Bottle For Oils & Tars
This Hubbard Specific Gravity Bottle is especially made for testing road oils and tars, asphalt cements, soft tar pitches, drying oils, varnishes, resins and insulating varnishes. Ground, glass stopper has 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) opening. Applicable Standards: ASTM D 70, D 1963, D 115 AASHTO T 43

viscometer bathConstant Temperature Viscometer Baths
These baths are designed for viscosity determinations with glass capilliary viscometers.

Model A-380 has a temperature range of 200 C to 1000 C. Model A-400 operates up to 1500 C.

Each has two electric heating elements inside the bath to rapidly heat the medium to any desired temperature within the designated ranges. A cooling coil, when connected to tap water or a cooling system, permits operation below or slightly above ambient temperature. A special selector switch provides rapid selection of 10 of the most popular temperatures. By switching to the "variable" setting, any temperature within the operating range can be obtained. The top cover of both models contains seven holes, 5.1 cm (2 in.) diameter for insertion of viscometer holders. Two additional holes, 1 cm (3/8 in.) diameter are provided for thermometers. These baths are designed to be used with water or oil (not supplied). Viscometers, holders and thermometers should be ordered separately. Applicable Standards: ASTM D-445

softening pointSoftening Point Apparatus
The Softening Point Apparatus uses the ring and ball method for determining the softening point of asphalt, tars and most resins. Samples are held within the horizontal rings and steel balls are placed on the top of the samples. As the sample is submerged in water and heated, the weight of the ball forces the sample downward. The softening point is the temperature at which the sample falls 1 in. to bottom shelf. The Softening Point Apparatus includes (2) standard balls, (2) shouldered rings, (1) 800 ml Pyrex beaker graduated from 50 to 750 ml, (2) shelves with support rings, ball retaining rings and metal cover. Applicable Standards: ASTM E 28, D 36, D 2398

Church Flasks
The Church Flask is used for the distilling of cut-back asphaltic products. Rubber stoppers, #5 are purchased separately. 500 ml capacity.

specific gravity bottleHubbard-Carmick Specific Gravity Bottle
The Hubbard-Carmick Specific Gravity Bottle is Erlenmeyer in design for use with viscous fluids, semi-solid bitumens and emulsions. It comes with a 24/12 ground glass stopper 40 mm diameter x 55 mm high and has a 25 ml capacity. Applicable Standards ASTM D 70, D 115, D 234, D 1429

Water Determination Apparatus
The A-500 Water Determination Appartus determines the water in petroleum and bituminous materials.
