Marshall Load Frame
The AM-100 Marshall Load Frame, with a load capacity of 10,000 lbf (45
kN), applies load to cylindrical asphalt test specimens mounted in a
thick-walled stability test mold (breaking head). The sturdy, steel frame
construction gives support to the drive motor, strain rods and crossbar
member. The strain rate is fixed at 2-in/min. The AM-100 features directional
switches with indicator lights to show when the unit is in operation
and when the platen reaches its limit. Microswitches control a system
shut-down for drive system protection at platen up/down limit.
The AM-102 Marshall Load Frame includes a 5,000 lb proving ring
with dial adaptor, proving ring to cross bar adaptor, and stability
test mold to proving ring.
The AM-110 Marshall Load Frame includes a 6,000 lb S-Type Load
Cell, a stability test mold to load cell, and a strip chart recorder.
The AM-105 Marshall Load Frame a 6,000 lb S-Type Load Cell, a
stability test mold to load cell, and a digital transducer readout.

| Marshall Mechanical Compactor Set
The
Marshall Mechanical Compactor Set is used for mechanical compaction
of asphalt samples for Marshall testing. Mechanical compaction
reduces inaccuracies involved in hand compaction and eliminates
much of the work. This set includes an automatic counter unit for
pre-selecting the number of hammer blows, after which the unit
will automatically shut off. Lift and release mechanism on hammer
weight ensures uniform impact on hammer foot. A constant surcharge
weight is maintained on hammer foot during compaction, and face
of hammer foot is held squarely against specimen at all times.
Compactors can be ordered as single or double units, and are supplied
with a beveled hammer face and rotating base or with a flat hammer
face and a non-rotating base. Compactors will accommodate hammers
for either 4 or 6 in. diameter molds, and a change-over can be
accomplished in a matter of minutes. A pedestal, as required by
ASTM, is included with the compactor. Applicable Standards: ASTM
D 1559 AASHTO T 245

| Marshall Compaction Hammer
Compaction
Hammer prepares samples for Marshall testing. Includes handle,
rod, sliding weight rammer and 4-in. diameter foot. Applicable
Standards: ASTM D 1559.
Marshall Compaction Hammer Holder
Mounts on compaction pedestal to center the ompaction hammer over the
compaction mold. Holds hammer securely during compaction process.
Marshall Compaction Mold Holder
Mounts on compaction pedestal to center the compaction mold over pedestal
post. Holds mold, collar and base plate of mold securely during compaction
process.Applicable Standards: ASTM D 1559 AASHTO T 245.
Wooden Compaction Pedestal
The Wooden Compaction Pedestal is used with the Stability Compaction
Mold during the compaction process of the specimen. It consists of
a wooden post with a moisture resistant finish and is 8x8x18-in. with
a 12x12x1-in. steel cap. Four angle brackets are fastened to opposite
end for mounting to concrete slab. Applicable Standards: ASTM D 1559

| |
Marshall Compaction Molds
Used
for preparing specimens for Marshall testing. Consists of base
plate, forming mold and collar. Interchangeable base plate and
collar can be used on either end of compaction mold. Machined from
seamless tubing and plated for rust resistance. Applicable Standards:
ASTM D 1559 AASHTO T 245 |
| |
Sample Ejector
The
Sample Ejector is designed for fast extrusion of samples from compaction
molds. The ejector will also extrude material from CBR/LBR molds,
Marshall molds and thin wall sample tubes 6 in. long. Maximum force
6000 lb (27 kN). The Sample Ejector Set includes: frame, 4 in.
diameter presshead insert for 4 in.compaction molds, and 4 in.
piston. Adaptor plates and piston diameters are available to suit
many applications. |

Asphalt Flow Indicator
For
use with AM-114 Marshall Stability Breaking Head. Measures up to
1 inch of plastic flow of samples undergoing Marshall testing.
Utilizes maximum position brake assembly. Comes complete with mounting
collar that fits either guide rod of test mold. Applicable Standards:
ASTM D 1559 |
| |
Marshall Stability Breaking Head
Used
for loading cylindrical asphalt samples for Marshall stability.
Upper and lower cylindrical sections have a 2 and 3 in. radius,
respectively, for 4-in. and 6 in. Marshall test specimens. Lower
section is mounted on base which has two vertical guide rods for
aligning the upper half. Plated for rust resistance. Loading button
of hardened steel to maintain radius. |
| |
Lottman Breaking Head
Used to determine the tensile strength of Marshall test specimens. Built
in accordance with ASTM D 4123, the tensile bar width is 1/2-in. for
4-in. diameter Marshall test specimens and 3/4-in. for 6-in. diameter
specimens. Guide sleeve similar to Marshall Breaking heads. Plated steel
for rust resistance. |

The GO-234 Circulating Water Bath
This water bath can heat up to twelve 4-in. diameter Marshall specimens.
Includes a perforated false bottom that supports Marshall test specimens
2-in. above the bottom of the bath. The thermostatically controlled,
insulated water bath has a magnetic stirrer to maintain the desired
temperature setting from ambient to 150° F (65.5° C) to within
+1° F . (+1° C). Baked enamel steel exterior with stainless
steel liner and cover. Interior dimensions 11.5 x 19.5 x 8-inches.
deep. Volume is 7.76 gal (29.4l)

Economy Water Bath
The GO-233 can be used for heating up to eight 4-in. diam Marshall specimens.
The optional stainless steel grid (GO-23399) false bottom permits water
circulation beneath the test specimens. |
