The Stirring Apparatus is used to prepare soil samples for hydrometer
testing. The soil samples are first mixed with the dispersing
agent to retard flocculation. Mixing of the soil and dispersant
is done with the Stirring Apparatus and a Special Mixing Paddle
made to ASTM specifications. At the maximum of three-speeds,
Stirring Apparatus rotates at about 10,000 rpm under no-load
. The Stirring Apparatus includes a standard stirring paddle
and a dispersion cup with stationary soil baffles.
